23. Pray – For One Another

Reading Time: 2 minutes

(euchomai – to wish, will; by implication, to pray to God)

James 5:16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

I’d like to think that we could figure out how to practice all 23 of these “one another’s” on a fairly regular basis. However, if there is one I am certain we can all do more of and do this consistently it would be this one – PRAY.

As a young believer I remember watching the interaction of church folks in the foyer. They would share a few things that were happening in their life and eventually say, “I’ll be praying for you.”

That was a new concept for me. You mean people think about each other even when they’re NOT at church? Other than meal blessings, aren’t prayers supposed to stay in church?

It is the most comforting feeling to know that others are thinking about you and dropping your name and circumstances in a conversation with God!

We can do this one – more!

I’m a techie so I’ve got an app to help me remember important ToDo’s. And right next to that app is my Prayer app. I’ve got a list of emergency and regular prayer requests listed and the app has a pop up reminder everyday at 7:14 am (from 2 Chronicles 7:14).

Many of you keep an index card in your Bible or a small card in your wallet and you pray for folks when you come across that list.

However and whenever you can, we can show our love for one another by praying.

Prayer:
Father for those disciplined and undisciplined, busy or bored, care-filled or careless… help us to remember to talk with you about our brothers and sisters and to pray with passion and faith as if they were right there holding our hand as we hold it up to you.
